Curriculum for Madina Educational Center

Our goal in teaching is to encourage a proud muslim identity and values. Muslims worldwide share a common set of values based upon the Qur’an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). The material aims to help students develop islamic knowledge, spiritually and take pride in being Muslims. 

Each teacher has designed an age appropriate curriculum.

Purpose


This policy aims to:

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing positive behavior and social skills.
  • Set clear expectations and consequences for behavior.
  • Encourage consistency across the school.


Core Values


We expect all members of our school community to uphold:

  • Respect for self, others, and the environment.
  • Responsibility for actions and learning.
  • Kindness in words and actions.


Expected Behaviors


Students are expected to:

  • Follow instructions from staff promptly and respectfully.
  • Treat all members of the school community with kindness and respect.
  • Arrive on time and be prepared for learning.
  • Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
  • Use appropriate language at all times.
  • Respect school property and the environment.
  • Move safely and calmly around the school.


Unacceptable Behaviors:


  • Disrupting learning.
  • Rudeness or defiance.
  • Physical aggression or fighting.
  • Bullying.
  • Use of offensive language.


Consequences

The consequences for poor behaviors will be:

  1. Reminder of expectations.
  2. Warning and opportunity to correct behavior.
  3. Escalation – involvement of senior staff AND parents.

Purpose


To ensure that mobile phone use does not disrupt learning and promotes a safe, respectful school environment.


Policy Summary


  • Phones must be turned off or on silent during school hours.
  • No phone use during class time.
  • Phones may be used:
    • Before and after school
  • No filming, photography, or audio recording without permission.
  • No use of phones in restrooms


Consequences for Violations


  • 1st Offense: Warning and phone held until end of the day
  • 2nd Offense: Phone held; parent contacted
  • Repeated Offenses: Further disciplinary action, including loss of phone privilege at school


 Special Circumstances


Students with documented health needs or emergencies may be exempt from parts of the policy, with administrative approval.

Modesty is Key


  • Treat MEC Sunday School as if you are going to a masjid


  • Appropriate dress code helps build an Islamic environment


  • Youth Men and boys should wear long pants and shirts (long- or short-sleeved), avoiding shorts or garments that expose the body’s shape or ‘awrah—which, in Islamic terms, refers to the area from the navel to knees


  • Youth Women and girls are expected to wear loose-fitting clothing such as maxi dresses, skirts, or pants. It’s important the clothing is non-revealing, non-transparent, and free from offensive imagery or text


  • Youth Women are expected to cover their hair with a scarf or hijab
